Project Description

Periyar Energy Limited, a subsidiary company of Energo Group incorporated under the company act 1956, is implementing a 2x300 MW power project in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu on premise of Group Captive Power Plants. Set forth by the extant policies of the Ministry of Power the surplus power from the power plant shall be fed to the Grid in Tamil Nadu.

The proposed plant will be developed in two stages, Unit-1 in Stage -1 and Unit -2 in Stage-2. In the initial phase the plant will be using imported coal (also provisions for Indian coal and blending) as the primary fuel. Both units will be based on pulverized coal fired boilers, extraction–condensing steam turbine generator with regenerative heaters and water cooled condenser. The Coal receipt is proposed by Captive Coal Jetty (small platform with automatic unloading and forwarding) with water being sourced from sea and power evacuation through nearby TNEB / PGCIL substations.

  • Site Identification, Pre Feasibility phase completed by EEPL

  • TOR granted in the EAC meeting held on 20.9.2013
  • Owner’s Engineer and Jetty Consultant have been finalized
